Terrarium substrate
Soil specifically designed for the terrarium environment.
Terrarium soil needs to perform differently to other soil mixtures.It needs to be packed with slow releasing nutrients for longevity. It needs to remain fluffy over time to allow the roots to freely stretch and grow. It also needs to allow access water to drain away yet leaving enough moisture to feed the plants and keep the soil moist. It's a very unique substrate.
Autumn Rose Terrarium substrate has been tried and tested with the oldest terrarium now passing its third year and continuing to flourish.
Reasons why we don't recommend non-specialised substrates:
Regular potting mix compacts over time and runs out of nutrition within six months, making it unsuitable for the prolonged life span of a terrarium.
Soil from your garden is used to bugs and worms helping to aerate it and supply the nutrients plants need, without these it becomes like potting soil compacting over time; stunting the growth of the plants and preventing moisture to freely flow where it's needed.
